About Me
Born in Beirut 1985, he was introduced to music when he was 9, since that day Elie’s first and main interest was music. Jaco Pastorius records where the main inspiration & the only source of learning specially in the absence of any professional music education in the country Elie’s lessons was pulling out bass lines from Jaco’s records ( Invitation, World of Mouth, Jaco… ) Weather Report and Joni Mitchell records, age of 16 Elie decided to quite the school and start up to be full time musician, 1 year later Elie was asked to perform with Mike Stern in Beirut, which was a great and big start for his musical career, at the age of 18 Elie met Arthur Satyan great piano player in Lebanon and he performed with him for 3 years, during that time E. was introduced to the old school (Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Jazz Messenger, Bud Powel….) and to Barry Harris approach where he found himself.Elie started upright lessons when he was 18 with Mr. Jack Gregg . To enhance his upright techniques Elie was receiving classical lessons along with Mr. BIROVESCU ION for 2 years.2007 Elie received a scholarship from Prins Claus conservatorium, where he decided to drop it after 3 month. Elie performed in many festivals such Novar Festival 2002(Bordeaux), Dubai jazz festival 2007, Palermo Jazz Festival 2007 (Italy),Mogno jazz festival 2007 (Brussels),JAVA JAzz Festival 2009 ….
Elie performed with great international musicians: Rene Mclean, Bobby Durham, Dwight Dickerson , Bobby Macferrin ,Mike Stern, Jerome Sabbagh, Chris Mcnaulty, Bob Feanceschini ,Cristo Fontecilla, Kamal Musallam, Olivier Collette, Gino Latouka, Steve Uben, and Raed El Khazen ,Tarek Yamani , khaled yassin ,Arthur Satyan ,Rony Barrak .Elie main influences: Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Parker, Bud Powel, Barry Harris, Charlie Haden, Ron Carter, Christian McBride, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Joe Zawinul, J.S Bach, Dominique Di Piazza, Mathew Garrison, john Scofield.
