Beleza School of Samba

Beleza is portuguese and translates roughly into something like beautiful or great!
Samba can be rough and tough like hip hop, loose and kooky like funk, soulful and beautiful like reggae! Its tribal, its chaotic, its romantic, ITS ANYTHING YOU WANT IT TO BE! Beleza is here to change the perception of Samba and show people what you can really do with Samba. Beleza is going to take samba to new heights in Perth so why not get involved!
Playing Samba music is good for everyone! You don't need to be a professional musician to join, you don't need any musical experience at all! If you have always loved seeing drummers in parades and secretly wanted to be a part of the fun, then BELEZA is for you!
We also aim to add dance sections to the samba school that anyone can be a part of at our future parade gigs. We are looking for people who want to be a part of this, wearing fancy costumes and making a huge spectacle. Dance teachers to teach at our rehearsals are also needed as well as costume and float designers. Get in touch!
Objectives Of Beleza School of Samba
To develop a local Samba group, playing rhythms as close to the Carioca sound as possible; aiming to perform up to the standards of Schools of Samba in Rio de Janeiro. The finished product, will be made up of a Bateria (the percussion section), as well as Ala’s (dancing sections), and Floats. The overall effect we are aiming for is the Carnival Parade in Rio; combining sound, visual and movement to provide a rich experience to the Perth community. An annual street parade on an ever-growing scale is the likely culmination and showcase of this endeavour.
