The Groovesmiths

Renegade Rhythm Roots

About Me

Gavin Shoesmith, originally a Freo boy in his last life as Bass player for a well known band (of which it could be said, "helped kick-start the roots movement in Australia") founded the Groovesmiths in Darwin.
Joining Shoesmith is renowned young Perth musician Alex Dew on guitars and the Latin born afro/cuban trained percussionist Walter Piccolruaz.
A band that truly defies genre, The Groovesmith's reputation as an incredible live band was confirmed by their performances at the Blues at Bridgetown Festival and the Broome Arts and Music Festival in 2007. With their debut release "Demonstrations of Intent" (Available in all good record stores nationally through MGM) selling well on the strength of such songs as "Bushranger" as they toured in and outside of Western Australia in 2007, the band went into the studio in early 2008 to lay down the tracks for a long awaited album.
Full length album is set for release June 2008. To order The Groovesmiths previous release please click HERE real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
