MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator Luiz Brasil .. Luiz Brasil Studied classical guitar at the Musical Institute ofthe Catholic University, in Salvador, Bahia. Studied arrangement and orchestration with Nelson Ayres in São Paulo, guitar and improvisation with Volker Krieguel at the Goethe Institute in Salvador, and learned harmony, rhythm and music history at the Foundation of Arts in São Paulo. Worked as an instrumentalist and arranger in album productions of Caetano Veloso from 1992 to 2000, when he made major contributions to “Circuladô Vivo”, “Fina Estampa”, “Fina Estampa ao Vivo”, "Tieta do Agreste”, Grammy-winning “Livro”, “Prenda Minha”, “Homaggio a Fellini e Giulietta”, and “Noites do Norte”. Luiz was instrumentalist, arranger and producer for Cassia Eller from 1999 to 2001 on the albums “Com Você Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo” and “Acoustic MTV” (for which Luiz won the Latin Grammy Award as the producer of the “Best Rock CD, 2001”)./br Also contributed to many other major Brazilian pop projects, including the debut album of Nando Reis (“12 de Janeiro”), Maria Bethânia (“Ambar”), Gal Costa (“O Sorriso do Gato de Alice”, Mina D..agua do Meu Canto”), Beto Guedes (“Dias de Paz”), Ivan Lins (“Auaiô"), Moraes Moreira (“La Vem o Brasil Descendo a Ladeira”, “Mestiço é Isso”, “Moraes Carnaval Moreira”), Fernanda Abreu (“Da Lata”), Elza Soares (“Do Cóccix até o Pescoço”), Daniela Mercury (“Sol da Liberdade”), Ivete Sangalo (“Beat Beleza”), Margareth Menezes (“Maga”). In 1996, Luiz toured with Gilberto Gil in Europe and North America. Worked on Globo Networks T.V. show, Faustão 1990 and 1991. Also worked on film soundtrack for “Central do Brasil” (which won more than 30 international awards and an Oscar nomination as Best Foreign Film), “O Quatrilho”, “Tieta do Agreste” and produced the soundtrack for Ó paí Ó. Participated in the albums of Morelenbaum 2/Sakamoto (“Casa” in Rio de Janeiro, “Casa ao Vivo” in Tokyo and "A Day in New York"). An instrumental project, “Duo” with cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, was hailed at the 2002 Umbria Jazz Winter Festival. He produced and arranged, under the artist direction of Caetano Veloso, Virginia Rodrigues' third CD, “Mares Profundos", his third project as musical director with Virgina since her debut, “O Sol Negro”. Recorded and produced duets with singer Jussara Silveira , for the CD “Nobreza” after a series of collaborations as producer/arranger/guitarist for Jussara, including the albums "Jussara Silveira", "Canções de Caymmi", and the most recent, "Entre o Amor e o Mar".
