SAMBALICIOUS are Australia’s most fun-loving, crazy, wild, self-confessed party instigators. They are lead by the hip-shaking, derriere emancipating stage antics of the Tropical Funk Brothers; Tom, Taciano and Marcio directing this full-scale singing, dancing, party machine. These boys are unyielding in their commitment to blowing the roof off any live gig, whether they are performing to 300 or 30,000 people.
Sambalicious play a highly danceable mix of reggae, samba, soul and dancehall, blending samba arrangements of hit English tunes, original tunes and Brazilian and English classics. The band is inspired by many Brazilian composers such as Seu Jorge, Clube do Balanco, Jorge Ben, Djavan etc… as well as international artists such as Ben Harper, James Brown and Jamiroquai. If you haven’t already heard the Sambalicious sound no doubt their sounds will soon gracing radio waves near you.
Sambalicious are the in-house band at the "Latin Quarter" - the Deen Hotel's fiery Thursday night Brazilian party, pulling more that 450 people through the door on an average night and holding down a residency stretching back to October 2004. They were the headlining act for the Sydney Brazil Carnaval 07, The Latin American Cultural Carnaval '05, '06 and '07, the Busselton Beach Festival '06, '07. They are the contracted act for the Brahma "Ginga Squad" 05/06 promotion, launching the Brahma beer label for Fosters Brewery in WA and have performed supporting a variety of National and International artists such as Cafe del Mar's Jose Padilla and Australian Crawl's James Reyne.
The bands is a veritable singing, dancing energy bomb and the obvious enjoyment which they get from performing carries across to engage every audience. They play a range of Brazilian tunes, brazilian versions of popular tunes and straight out international and English soul party standards. The band plays a fine selection of the best music that Brazil has to offer, ranging from sultry Bossa Novas and Forrós to funky Brazilian Samba-rock and Reggae. They also pump up the volume on the drums with a huge percussion set of loud, tight, Brazilian Carnival Drumming.
