My name is Boris and I'm very simple guy from de-e-e-p Russian countryside with some 25 years of pro experience in playing drums (both live & studio) as well as arranging and composing music, doing quite descent back vocals, teaching drums (mainly) and piano (sometimes) gigging with my band (The Third Step) and a few others here and there, including Euro(05)& Canadian West Coast(06)tours with Wild T & The Spirit. So if you're looking (or know anybody who is) for someone who has years and years of experience, feels comfortable on the road or in the studio and is serious about it - I am your guy right here. Besides drumming I also have 8 years of piano school and 4 years of University of Music education so I have no smallest problem with reading/writing charts, playing to click track, doing studio jobs (drumming and arranging/composing), working with Cubase and similar programs and therefore would be more than happy with being part of well established serious pro act that is above average good club band.I came to Canada from Ukraine via Israel some 12 years ago. I became noticed through out the country (USSR) as a major label touring drummer. I hit my first major tour at age 22.I did 3 major label acts touring/recording since then until me and my family (5pc) left USSR by the end of 1990. We moved to Israel so that one of my sons could have his heart surgery done which was totally impossible in USSR. It turns out that Israel happened to be the Holly Land for me because my son got his problem fixed and I did nothing but work in music biz there including extensive studio work, being drummer for major label artist and drummer of top show band with 9 mini Euro tours (all in Tel-Aviv). Later on, my family and I finally moved to Canada as it was highly recommended for my son to move to "cold" country after his heart surgery, so we're here and we like it. The only problem was - it has been a struggle to find a stable an upscale job with the title of a "Russian Drummer", broken English and 100 times less connections then average Toronto drummer. So I ended up with puting my own band together . We have been (and still are) doing shows at various different pubs and bars, casinos, resorts, islands and such. It's alright, although I would really like to find something where I'd have more job security ( in the music biz!?!?.. I must be crazy...) and feel more comfortable with the income so that I can better support myself and my family.

My Interests

Music, camping and outdoors, making nice healthy food, staying fit and excersing, my wife and family, arranging and composing music, playing drums - those are highligts among a few others...

Music:

I am a pro musician so I apreciate all sorts of different styles as long as the music is there (if you know what I mean) not too big on heavy/trash/speed metal though(I guess I was affected too much by classical music at the early age...) Some of the bands/artists I enjoy are Deep Purple, The Beatles, Grand Funk, Steve Wonder, Sting, Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, John Mayer, Dave Mathews band, Steely Dan, Elton John, BST, Chicago, Brian Adams, Robin Ford, Toto, Fishbone, Eric Clapton ,Tina Turner, Joe Cocker, Ray Charels... boy, there are too many to list. And then huge army of jazz/fusion people of all kinds like Return to Forever, Weather Report, John McLaughlin, Ravi Shankar, Herbie Hanckok, George Benson, Chick Corea, Kononia, Al Jarreu, Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, Tanya Maria, Dave Grusin, Grover Washingtone..... o-o-h, there are really too many to list. All I have to say is: I love music a lot..

Movies:

Good action / real life story / music related / smart comedy movies

Television:

Not really a big fan of it lately, mostly weather reports / some sports / nature / food / health channels type of guy...

Books:

Basically I'm from one of the most reading countries in the world so I was reading like crazy from the early age and 'till I came to North America.... too busy of a lifestyle over here.

My grandpa, Ian Paice, Bill Bruford, John Bonham, Steve Gudd, Tony Williams, Peter Erskin, Harvey Mason, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, David Garibaldi, Steward Copeland, Dennis Chambers, Johnny Rabb, Jojo Mayer, Randy Cooke and quite a numbers of other drummers and not music related people for either what they've been through or for their actions/achivements.
