About Me

Layout Provided By FreeCodeSource.com - Myspace Layouts I have been playing drums since the age of 11yrs. I studied music through school and performed in the Orchestra, Concert & Brass Bands and various Ensembles. At just 17 yrs old I joined a well-known and original Rock Band called 'Tour de Force' which later changed its name to 'The Promise', and released two international albums. (musical style- Journey, Toto, melodic rock) I accumulated touring, studio and televison appearances with this band. After several years with The Promise, and via a year-out travelling, I moved to Glasgow where I began recording over a 3 year period with local songwriters/musicians and formed the band 'Ten Worlds', (musical style- Country Rock - influences such as Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Melissa Etheridge). I then became involved in a 'Disco Tribute Show' for three and half years which succesfully toured all over the U.K. and Ireland in Theatres & Venues, and one amazing outdoor performance at New Year in front of 30,000 people. I am now playing and teaching full-time while based in my home city of Aberdeen-Scotland, and continue to perform in City Hotels for Corporate and private clients. Musical styles that I enjoy playing range from: R'n'B, Funk, Soul, Pop, Gospel, Rock, Disco, Country/ New Country, Folk, Celtic, Rock'n'Roll, Easy Listening, Mainstream. If it's a good melodic song/ tune - I'll like it! Examples: Angie Stone, Stevie Wonder, Sarah McLachlan, Bonnie Raitt, Prince, Mary J Blige, George Benson, Amanda Marshall, Sara Evans, Chic, Mary Gauthier, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin, Garth Brooks, Randy Crawford, Bee Gees, Toto, Evanescence, Backstreet Boys, Linkin' Park & Elvis !! Band Members: Colin Chapman
Influences: Biggest life-long drumming influences are Jeff Porcaro and Steve Smith. I am also inspired by Vinnie Colaiuta & Manu Katche for their subtlety & use of dynamics and creativity in their playing. Also love the great Buddy Rich, and those that follow in his footsteps: Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers & Omar Hakim etc. And lastly I am also inspired by many other "Song" players from the 'Nashville Studios', 'Memphis' and 'Motown' to all the fabulous Session Players around today and before. The Great 'Bernard Purdie' & 'Hal Blaine' to name a couple.
