About Me

Axe for hire. Based in Aberdeen (Scotland), playing for years and years and years.... currently play in various jazz lineups, a covers/wedding band, a 12 piece swing band, The Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra, the odd ceilidh gig etc etc. Just don't ask me to play in an Oasis tribute band. My beloved Gibson ES175 is my prize possession, but I do own numerous other guitars (and a banjo), some of which are hunks of crap, others are little gems.Songs: First one is a guitar solo recorded at Beans with Bug on bass and Nick on drums. Typical guitarist wankfest basically... good fun though.Second one There Will Never Be Another You, beautiful standard, really nice to solo over. Recorded at the Lemon Tree, AberdeenThird one is All The Things You Are, a duet with Graeme "Bug" StephenFourth one Four On Six, a great Wes Montgomery tune, perfect for burning over. Now if only I could burn.... Recorded at The lemon Tree Aberdeen with my band 2 Bit HipFifth one Justice And Honour, by Bill Frisell, recorded at The Lemon Tree Aberdeen with Gary Gibb on saxSixth one is Chitlins Con Carne, a Kenny Burrell number, Gary Gibb again on sax.And here's a video of me playing the famous Larry Carlton solo from Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne", one of the greatest rock jazz crossovers ever! Watch my expression vary from bizarre, to grimacing, to the wee wee face....
