We are based in Altrincham, Cheshire, England, UK.
We are a side of male and female dancers who perform traditional Morris Dancing.
The name Bollin refers to the local River Bollin.
We were established 30 years ago. In those days, we danced mainly North West Morris dances, with some Border and Cotswold Morris dancing each Christmas, and on other special occasions.
We no longer dance Northwest Morris, and instead dance Border and Cotswold Morris all year round, in our own exhuberant style!
We formerly danced in Northwest style kit, apart from during the Christmas season, when we swapped it for the traditional Border Morris style kit of Tatter Jackets, soot blackened faces, individually decorated hats, and Cotswold style bellpads.
We now permanently dance in Border kit, with the main feature being the Tatter Jackets.
We dance to celebrate the seasonal cycles of birth, growth, decay, dormancy and regeneration.
We believe in dancing and playing music in the true spirit of the Morris, with all its inherent ancient magic and mystery.
Yes, we dance and play in full knowledge of what the Morris means and does....but we may never tell you....!
We still have some original members and many new members.
We always welcome new dancers, who wish to come along and learn how to dance the Morris.
We dance and practice to the live music of our Bollin Morris musicians. We are happy to welcome lively and interesting musicians along to join us.
