About Me
Welcome.
This page is about the music of the people.
Folk Music that is, from all parts of The British Isles; England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Each part having its own beauty and sound, sometimes drawing on the inspirations of each other to create a unique and very special blend of British folk music.
However, you will also find other roots music from around the world on here too, which we hope you will enjoy.
Folk music, as the quote above from John Tams so rightly says, is our way back to our roots, wherever we may come from. It is our looking-glass into the past, and our gift to the new shoots waiting to grow from the very best of the old roots.
It is history constantly being updated, a never-ending record of what has happened and is happening now, all around us.
This beautiful music is an important and valuable treasure, and in this day and age of throw-away values, it is one that should be guarded and respected, as never before. For to lose 'the voice of the music' which calls to us from centuries past, would be a terrible thing to let happen.
This musical heritage then, belongs to all of us.
Therefore, it is up to each and everyone of us to ensure that it is protected, carried foward and passed down to our children and our children's children, so that future generations will always be able to hear the voice of their ancestors.
"Without our stories or our songs, how will we know where we come from?"
