My Interests

We play English traditional and contemporary acoustic music. Patrick plays Melodeons (Castagnari, Baffetti & Hohner) and Anglo Concertina. Rex plays guitar, bouzouki, ukelele, recorders and does the singing stuff. Patrick's main influences are John Kirkpatrick, Simon Care, Gareth Turner, Andy Cutting, John Spiers, Richard Arrowsmith, Tony Hall and Andy Turner. Rex's main influences are Steve Knightley, Chris Wood, John Tams, Carlos Santana, Rory Gallagher, Paul Simon, Steve Marriott, Gong...the list goes on. We also like vintage and classic cars (especially Triumph TR's) and WW2 Aircraft and steam locomotives....and Abstract Art, especially Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock and other Abstract Impressionists.

I'd like to meet:

My Ancestors. Folk Musicians!

Music:

Wide taste but our real passion is English traditional and contemporary acoustic music. We also love medieval music, Baroque, especially Purcell and Monteverdi, some jazz (Stan Getz, Dave Brubeck), but mainly English and other folk artists including Show of Hands, Spiers & Boden, Simon Care, Tickled Pink, Little Johnny England, Morris On, Magpie Lane, Bellowhead, Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies, Chris Wood, Andy Cutting, English Acoustic Collective, Pentangle, Magna Carta, John Kirkpatrick, Benji Kirkpatrick, Flook, Crucible, Tim van Eyken, Saw Doctors, Chris Wood, Strawbs, Brian Willoughby & Cathryn Craig,Tim Laycock, John Tams, Ashley Hutchings and Morris On, Dr Feelgood, Led Zeppelin, Free, Spooky Tooth, Small Faces, Enigma, Johnny Cash,Amon Duul II, Incredible String Band, Jefferson Airplane, Indian music and loads more.

Movies:

Not great ones for movies really. We get bored too quickly. But Wayne's World does appeal to our low brow film tastes!

Television:

We hate TV - switch the tv aerials off - see if we give a stuff! But we do like "The Young Ones" and drive everyone insane quoting Rik and Vivien "Have you been using my roll-on deoderant? Its got a revolting hair on it and its NOT one of mine. Its common stealing Vivien, and if you EVER touch it again EVER, I'm going to the police, I mean it STRAIGHT to the police" etc etc Ok Neil, what is the main piggy contribution to western civilization? Who invented the internal combustion engine? Was it Porky the Pig? Er no it wasn't.....

Books:

Jack Kerouac On the Road, Laurie Lee Cider with Rosie, Lawrence Durrell Bitter Lemons, Evelyn Waugh Sword of Honour Trilogy, Jack Kerouac The Subteraneans, Ted Hughes, Peter Ackroyd, ooooh Jean-Paul Sartre, tons more - too lazy to list them.

Heroes:

Good Musicians, My Dad
