Inspired by the 1953 horror classic House of Wax, THE DOLLMAKER is the story of a twisted obsession

About Me

I'm a writer. I kinda love it. I kinda hate it. But mostly I love it. I grew up in Bradford, Arkansas, and have always lived in the South, so that's where I set my thrillers. My books have been described as creepy and disturbing. I write about dark secrets and old murders, dusty backroads and murky bayous.

The Devil's Footprints Trailer
Reviews
"Faced paced and plotted with spectacular precison and guile, this is undiluted suspense at its very finest. Nervous readers should read it in full daylight."
—Romantic Times
"The fast-paced storyline hooks readers who ponder whether this is a horror tale, psychological suspense, or some sort of combination as Amanda Stevens keeps the tension stratospherically high throughout. Keep the lights on as this one will reach your gut."
—The Mystery Gazette
"A supernatural imagery mixes with psychology to create a terrifying look into a cold case, memory and the legacy of the present day consequences. Indeed, Amanda Stevens' brilliant use of imagery gives an unusual glimpse into the dynamics behind the murders."
—Merrimon Book Reviews
MARKED BY EVIL is an online prequel that will run (free!) from March 4, 2008 to April 20, 2008.

Seven years ago, Claire Doucett's daughter vanished without a trace. A clue has finally surfaced--a doll that looks exactly like her missing child, right down to a birthmark painted on one porcelain arm. Claire's search leads her from a quaint collectibles shop in the French Quarter to the murky Louisiana bayou country and the shadowy home of an eccentric doll maker whose 'portrait' dolls resemble missing children.

The Dollmaker Trailer
Reviews
"This intriguing book has elements of Silence of the Lambs and John Saul's myriad child-in-danger books, skillfully weaving great mood and atmosphere with solid dialogue and suspense that never fails to build."
—Curled Up With A Good Book
"A mesmerizing trip into the realm of the macabre that is not for the faint of heart."
—Fresh Fiction
"With The Dollmaker, author Amanda Stevens conjures up James Patterson and Anne Rice in this creepy gothic chiller of a novel. Making the leap from the romantic suspense yarns for which she's known to psychological suspense thriller, Stevens steers clear of the throwaway potboiler and crafts a well-constructed, multi-layered plot ripe with police corruption, child abduction, and enough creepy dolls to make one shudder at the next mention of Madame Alexander. It's John Berendt's Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil meets House of Wax—minus Paris Hilton with just a hint of John Grisham's Southern sensibilities."
—Vince A. Liaguno, author of The Literary Six
