_I'm an artist. I paint, draw, do mosaics. Surrealism is not the exact word I'd use to describe my work, but as I am always stiving to circumnavigate realism, I quess that is the best term. I get around my tendancies to create contrived realistic art in several ways; I use my left hand for drawing (my right is my dominant hand), I sometimes draw blindfolded, or use a blind contour approach to the figure. Of all of these techniques, using my left hand has been the most rewarding shift my art has taken in recent years and I have embraced it wholeheartedly. The line has a more natural--less contrived--quality to it. While the results are sometimes surprising, my style shines through.
