Back in the studio...the charcoal is flying.

About Me

I just turned 28. No really, I did. Yeah, I know, I look young. Ask me if that bothers me in 20 years. I love to draw, I love to paint. I’ve been doing it my entire life. I’m just now getting comfortable with calling myself an artist. I'm learning to live fearlessly. Fearless will soon be my middle name. I’m happy the majority of the time. Especially when I can flex those creative muscles. I am incredibly patient. I am insanely emotional. I care too much about things I shouldn’t care about. I thrive on music, and my overwhelming connection to it. It feeds my work. I have no clue where I will be ten years down the road. I’ve been almost moving to another city for six years. Maybe one day I will. But I do love Chicago. Sometimes my lack of common sense astounds me, and sometimes I think too much and overanalyze until I drive myself nuts. I believe that I appear to be more interesting than I am, but not nearly as interesting as I’d hope to be. I don't actually eat the paint. Well, not on purpose. (But it would explain quite a lot about me if I did.)

My Interests

art, art, art – paint eating – charcoal sniffing – creating, consuming, critiquing theatre – people watching in downtown Chicago – pretending to play the drums – cart-wheeling in the grass when no one is looking – falling on my face when they are – pouring through my leaning tower of books – consuming large quantities of tea – Autumn – Autumn colors – Autumn sweaters – good dark chocolate – booming, window-rattling, but not power outing, thunder storms – talking about dreams and trying to interpret them – laughing so hard my face hurts – missing megsy – tacos! – missing megsy – road trips – missing megsy – music, music, music – random concerts at small venues – discovering new music – getting to know musicians – dancing on the train during rush hour – people’s hands – seeking out mini adventures – being mysterious – being fearless.

I'd like to meet:

Oh, people I guess. People would be cool to meet. I like people.

Painting As A Spectator Sport

Paint-A-Thons would not go over well on ESPN. Watching paint dry could quite possibly be the most boring activity on the planet for a non-artist. My family and friends are true saints. Paint-A-Th...
