All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once one grows up. ~Picasso

About Me

"WEll I AM AN ARTIST!"
"Eclectic" in mood,thought and creatively
"Loving Gods Creation"
Anita York Chase
AKA "RAFIKI"
I am a Self Taught,Eclectic,Freelance Artist from Southern California
My Interest In Apes and Wildlife Art started as a child watching Lowland Gorillas at the Los Angeles Zoo; this fascination grew into a passion for Apes and Monkeys that has lasted a life time. While living in San Diego in the early ninety's I took my passion for the greater Apes and Monkeys to the next level and began a three year artistic study of Lowland Gorilla individuals and their family's at the San Diego Zoo.
The very word - GORILLA - holds me in awe: "Half man and half beast." Early 19Th century drawings usually depicted Gorillas looking more like King Kong Monsters. It is my desire to convey to the viewer of my artwork a thought best described by naturalist George B. Schaler of the Wildlife Conservation Society: No one looks into a Gorillas eyes- intelligent, gentle, vulnerable can remain unchanged.
~Thanking God every day for a talent that helps me to clear my mind, and my spirit allowing me to share in "His Creation"
My art allows for me to help in the support of various wildlife organizations , while helping in the support of my family.
All of my images(photos, art, ect.) are copywritten, so please do not use them with out permission, it's against the law
