Attn: Environmentalists and Animal Lovers! Writers! New Primate Conservation Website Seeks Volunteers
A new website community is in development with the goal of fostering in youth awareness and interest in our primate relatives. Our target range is teens and young adults, but membership will be open to all interested and there is a kids section. This will be a site where users can find information, resources, and ideas to become active in fundraising and educate the public about issues that threaten the survival of The Great Apes and other primates. The community includes a forum, chat room, and other interactive features that will allow users to communicate and connect locally. It's meant to be a fun, lively place to talk about common interests. The goal of "Youth Ape Net" is to encourage awareness of news and issues in users, then to generate interest, which leads to promoting the active involvement in fundraising activities and consumer choices that make the world a better place for Great Apes, so they will not become extinct in our lifetime.
*Volunteer Positions Available*
Writers- to research and write articles for features and the podcast.
Webmasters- people interested in helping to improve the site. Right now it is a fairly basic style.
Photographers- Do you have stock images of primates? We need photos for our gallery database. (You will retain copyright.)
Podcast team- Recording news material, features, as well as interviewing guests in the primatology field.
Graphic Artists- Design logos, various graphics, cartoons or comics for the kids section, possibly merchandise.
General- We will need people to help out in a variety of campaigns on the way, both locally and online.
*********Write to: [email protected]*********
This website is expected to generate a large amount of interest as it is unique and diverse. There have been many issues in the news recently about threatened Apes. Many people want to get involved but don't know how.
If you are interested in becoming a member but do not have the time to volunteer, message [email protected] and you'll be added to the information mailing list.
