SlipString Drive: String Theory, Gravity and Faster Than Light Travel

About Me

"Thoughtful, infectious, and mind-expanding ... a highly readable book which offers both a theoretical refinement of M-theory and an important practical application with dramatic implications for the future of intelligent life in the universe." -Theodore C. Nason, Ph.D., Physics
"It's nice to read a book that takes complicated ideas and theories and communicates them in a way that makes sense to someone without a physics background" -Sean Murphy
"Bender embarks with all the eagerness - ?if not the ringing clarity?of Brian Greene... A fertile physics funhouse for the highly curious and motivated lay reader." -Kirkus Discoveries
Written for everyone by using visual descriptions, illustrations, and analogies to everyday life, SlipString Drive tackles our entire universe from before its creation until after its end. With a modification of M-theory gravity, it explains dark matter, dark energy, and the reasons behind the laws of physics. SlipString Drive begins by taking you through the basics of string and M-theories so that you can embark on an effectively “faster than light” voyage without violating the laws of physics. By using gravity waves to partially and completely isolate volumes of spacetime from the rest of the universe, author Andrew L. Bender proposes a method of travel—similar to going through a wormhole—that could be possible within fifty years. This method specifically avoids all the problems of paradox and time travel associated with nearly all other attempts at such travel. Time passes normally within the isolated region, preventing any possibility of paradox. He also details a unique engine design for producing the gravity waves necessary to travel in such a manner with strict adherence to the laws of physics.
In SlipString Drive , Bender describes how ships using this method of propulsion would appear to those outside of the ship’s partially “gravitationally isolated” region of space while maneuvering at slow speeds. Bender also discusses novel uses for such a vessel, such as saving humanity from comets to supernovae.
Bender then offers a “Membrane Theory of Gravity.” A modification of M-theory, this new theory unifies all forces, predicts dark matter and energy, and explains the reasons behind the laws of physics such as E=MC 2 . It also theorizes how "dark matter" membrane vibrations will be converted into "dark energy" universe expansion as our membrane relaxes after the collision that created our universe. This prediction, along with others, could prove modified M-theory correct observationally—a feat cosmology has yet to achieve. Finally, Bender hypothesizes how the universe will end (according to recent observations and his theory) and answers the question: Must life in the universe be extinguished when our universe ends?

Television:

BBC: PARALLEL UNIVERSES

Imagine that we are not the only universe. "Parallel Universes" takes you on a short trip through String and M-theory and the parallel universes it requires. However, this theory is incomplete. Its reliance on parallel universes in order for gravity to work properly is its current flaw. SlipString Drive ( www.SlipString.com ) corrects this error with a Membrane Theory of Gravity which only requires our own single membrane in order to work properly. Other membranes and universes exist, however they are each isolated and independent from one another. Read SlipString Drive for details.

Part 3 of The Elegant Universe 1/5 The Elegant Universe was created before Parallel Universes, so it's concept of string and M-theory are more primitive, but it does give you a great starting point! Instead of slices of bread, our membrane is more like a fluid-filled doughnut or sphere. Additionally, SlipString Drive's Membrane Theory of Gravity eliminates the "leaking graviton" as gravity would be a curvature of our brane created by vibrating strings of matter. The more energy the string has, the more tightly it pulls its ends together, curving spacetime! This modification also predicts dark matter and dark energy!
