AFROINDIGENOUS HERITAGE LIVES ON! COLOMBIAFRICAN CONSCIOUS CULTURAL EDUCATION MOVEMENT! ~ORGULLOSAME

About Me

The author, designer, and creator of this page is a native Floridian of Zambo((Afro-Indigenous))Colombian heritage. If not by phenotype, he is by blood, spirit, soul, heart, sacred ancestry, and spiritual connection. Here in Defense of the African and Indigenous South American descendence! This is the page of a Culture/Roots man, but it has turned away from being just a personal page and more so into being a page about his cultural anthropological/sociological/african diaspora/heritage/family history studies/research/interests/travels/education. This page is not about that colonized/slave identity nonsense of "Hispanic/Latino" known for in the USA and among other colonized minds. This is a page in RESISTANCE to the 'white'/European supremacy, fallacy, and deception which is symbolized by those terms. It is in resistance to the continuation of that Spanish colonialism. The page mostly focuses on AFRODIASPORIC-and-INDIGENOUS SOUTH AMERICA/on COLOMBIAFRICA/ AFROBRASIL/and THE INDIGENOUS ANDES & AMAZON. It is a heart felt identification of mine with those ancestors/peoples and can be easily symbolized as resistant ZAMBONESS. I, as a descendant of deep rooted South American zambaje.mulataje.mestizaje/'race' mixing among Africans, Europeans, and Native Americans find it absolutely essential to recognize/identify/LOVE the African and Native American roots when our 'white'/European supremacy societies do nothing but look down on them and demean them, see, because all the mixtures were not based on love, but more so self-hate, it was 'whitening' through mixing, to escape and annhilate the African and Native South American appearances/roots/phenotypes/cultures/languages/heritages. Till this very day these colonial ideas persist in the minds of the new born babies, because they continue to be reintroduced all throughout these countries' societies. I see a continuation of colonialism and till this very day many of African and Native South American descent, both of mixed ancestry and non-mixed ancestry, are trying to achieve the colonial idea of 'whiteness' just because they see it as "bettering the race" ; this is a result of being within 'white'/European supremacy colonial cultures and societies for so long. When will it end? I hope this page aids in battling the ignorance and ending the psychological colonialism and mental slavery.

CHAMPETA (COLOMBIAN SOUKOUSS)

A Short History: 40 years ago, sailors coming from Africa arrived in the Colombian Caribbean city Cartagena, bringing with them albums like the music of Prince Nico Mbarga (Cameroon-Nigeria), the Oriental Brothers (Nigeria), Tabu Ley Rochereau & Mbilia Bell from Congo, and a long list of the "Highlife Master Messagers". Thanks to these anonymous travelers, and to the vitality of my AfroColombian brothers who have made African music the rhythm of their hearts, in less than 10 years Colombia has become the "Soukouss Republic of America". Today, these African stars provide major inspiration for thousands of youth who dream of forming their own groups to play Soukouss, Highlife & Afro-beat in the streets of Colombia. The irrefutable fathers of this music are the black maroons from the San Basilio village of Palenque, near Cartagena. Viviano Torres with his group Anne Swing, Justo Valdes & Son Palenque, the group Kussima with Hernan Hernandez without them, this musical movement would not exist today.

CURRULAO & BAMBUCO

(Tumaco)

From the heart of the magic Colombian Pacific coast, you hear the rhythms of the group "Ecos Del Pacifico" and of the Currulao festival held every December in Tumaco.

Green Gold part I

www.greengold-oroverde.org The Certified Green Gold program in Choco; Colombia is the first project of its kind in the world, which looks to reverse the devastating processes done to these unique ecosystems, caused by out of control large scale mining of one of the most bio-diverse eco-regions of the world. Currently the initiative is being implemented in 12 Afro-Colombian communities, within the municipalities of Condoto and others;, the project seeks the active participation of the population, who are represented by the community councils, to ensure the successful development of the area.Green Gold demands compliance with socially and environmentally responsible practices, by imposing a rigorous certification process on all mining methods, this then puts an added value on the metals produced, whether they be raw materials for jewellery making, environmental souvenirs, or as ready made jewellery.
