MySpace reminds me of something I might have read about in a science fiction book when I was a boy
, predicting a future when the world is filled with people, wars are happening all over the globe, and technology is miraculous – and miraculously out of control. The MySpace graphics are, for the most part, fairly cheesy and boring. Bad advertisements are blinking and YELLING at you. The main attraction seems to be an ever increasing group of "friends" who gather and increase exponentially like a growth on your left arm that you hope won't someday get so large that it overtakes and devours you like The Blob - or perhaps takes over your body and soul like the pods in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But, of course, THAT IS what you hope for - that your group of "friends" will grow and grow until it's out of control and bigger than all your other friends' groups of friends. Most religions and spiritual philosophies believe that we are all connected - that we are all ONE somehow. Perhaps we will all continue to connect with computer links until we have an electronic version of ONENESS. And there you go... The last page punch-line in a cheap science fiction paperback book.

I WOULDNT TELL YOU NO LIE

Ron and I wrote this song when we were producing a record on Freddy Fender at The Church back in about 1988. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I thought it would make a great record for Freddy. Can't ...
