My name is Mike Vanover and I started playing Santa Claus when I was 19 years old and living in Marion, Ohio. My first two years I played at the Silver Street School in Marion. Back when I started I wished that I had kept a log on everything that the kids told me they wanted. I have had people to sit on my lap as young as 3 hours old up to 102 years old and up to 500 pounds plus. I have made believers out of a lot people in the past 30 years. Friends, there was a real Santa Claus but he didn't have reindeer that could fly, but he was real. I've played at shopping malls, discount stores, drug stores, nursing homes, hospitals, restaurants, and private parties. To celebrate my 30th year I've started a program called "SANTA CARES" in which I collect donations to buy winter coats, caps, and gloves for the needy children in my area.
