About Me

Hi, I'm Elisabetta, and somehow I'm still proud of being Italian. What about me... well, I sing and play piano. When I was a child I started singing in a small village church near Parma. I studied classic giutar for 3 years, then my all spare time was carried off by volleyball for years. In 2000 I had my first gig as a singer: something was definitly gonna change in my life! I worked with several local bands, as "Tatanka" which opened for Pino Daniele at Pistoia Blues 2001, and I also worked with a theater company called "I menzonieri". By the time I got a degree in Biotechnologies in 2004, only to satisfy my thirst of science, but I wanted more from music and I realized I needed vocal training, so I moved to Bologna where I got a Music Accademy diploma in modern singing in 2006 with teacher Francesca Brancone. In this city I've been able to increse my knowledge and experience on the stage as I put myself in different kinds of show. For 2 years I've been the vocalist for Boop & The Gang acoustic duo, and I do vocals for Black & Brown (we just released our new live album "We Gotta Party" where I'm the soloist of the song that gives the name to the cd!!! check this great funky band at www.myspace.com/blackandbrownband) and also for Sara 6's disco cover band Zodiac, and Light Zodiac: piano and 4 voices from the same band. I had the opportunity to work several times in professional recording studios as a back vocalist, e.g. on the song "Dovunque andrai" by Rosso, and for S. Occhipinti & G. Gambino's songs. Now I'm attending at Ferrara's conservatoire school of Jazz, which gave me the chance to sing and record Giancarlo Schiaffini's compositions, and I am studing "Bel Canto" tecnique with Maestro Miguel Angel Fabio Curti. Oftenly I collaborate with other bands in Bologna as Res Gesta and Diamond Band. Good luck and good music to everyone who reached this line!------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------

I really felt in love for Ella Fitzgerald, I was knocked out when I first heard her Stormy Weather on a tv advertisment, and then I felt in love for her skat. I've always been listening to a lot of music and my taste is always evolving: when I was a child I preferred italian 60s music -Mina Battisti Celentano...- and The Platters, Dire Straits. I can't deny that I bought all Take That's albums but in my second teenage life I used to listen to Guns'n'Roses, Queen, Metallica, Ben Harper, Dream Theater, Sound Garden, Oasis, Counting Crows, Alice in Chains, Nirvana Lenny Kravitz and so on... never forgetting my love for Chopin even if I started playing piano only a few years ago, for I used to have only a guitar... About 20 I went crazy for Jeff Buckley and then somehow started to really appreciate Terence Trent D'Arby, Anouk, Alanis M., Des'ree, Elisa and bands like The Cure, The Police, RHCP, Cold Play and oh god The Radiohead!! while my ears were getting used to Jazz and the voice of Sarah Vaughn. I've been also introduced to electronic music and it's been great. Then, few years ago, when I decided to be a musician rather than a crazy biotechnologist making everlasting tomatos and speeking plants, I started to study Blues, Pop, Rock, and Jazz so that I've been influenced by Steavie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Anita Baker, Steavie Ray Vaughn, Robben Ford, George Benson, Toto, James Brown, Stealy Dan, Noah, Billie Holiday, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Withney Houston, Giorgia, Fantasia Barrino, Eddie Brickell, Beyonce and again Nina Simone and many many many more. Nowadays my heart beats in a funky rythm and my feet have been dancing on a cuban heartbeat ...I've been approaching salsa in the last year, thanks to a huge bolognese band in which I was one of the three singers; it made me discover great voices like Omara Portuondo, Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan and great bands as Los Van Van, Buena Vista Social Club, Irakere etc. I also worked with house DJs and it made me remember I like dance music from my teen-age. But it's not how many singers you listen to, how many times you've been singing in front of an audience that makes a singer, what really matters is feeling the goodness of music while singing feeling the energy coming out yourself and reaching anybody there. At last never be serious about yourself.
