About Me

My name is Bill Snodgrass and I am involved in a number of different things.

What am I doing on MySpace:

I am here to build alliances and relationships with Readers, Writers, and Artists. I am "involved" with Double Edged Publishing, Inc (more below) in a big way, and I intend to use MySpace as a way to reach people who might share an interest with me in quality works of word and art. I'll be using this site to promote projects and to connect with others. I have a special interest in fantasy and science fiction, by the way.

I have also discovered that MySpace is a rich source for exciting new music (e. g. Marissa Pontecorvo ), so I am going to blog about that! I am also going to blog about local concerts and performances. Thus, networking with Musicians is also something I hope to accomplish through MySpace.

Naturally, since I am involved with fiction and poetry magazines, when there are updates, I'll blog about those as well. I'll post announcements about new contents, contests, and things like that. I'll probably occasionally have the random thought to share that's not right for my column at The Sword Review .

My Magazine Blogs

I'll be blogging from a Christian world view, but I think you'll find that my approach is sensible and inclusive. I am NOT a judgmental person, and my blogs won't be either. Subscribe to my blog , and you'll see!

More about me:

I am in seminary at Memphis Theological Seminary . Sometimes, I get paid to build web sites. I am a partner in Web-Net Solutions, LLC . We are mostly dealing with existing customers for whom we wrote web applications (PHP & mySQL). I write a little (mostly fantasy and science fiction) and have a web site set up for my writing.

Photography:

I also do some photography. I have done some studio-like work as well as location work. Recently, some of my work ended up in the Memphis Commercial Appeal . (Both print and online editions.) You can also see more of my photography in my music blogs . Here's one example:

Live concert shot of Boochie Shepherd playing
at The Show . About Double-Edged Publishing:

Over the last two years, most of my time has gone into developing a non-profit corporation (IRS 501(c)(3) designated) to promote Christian-grounded fiction. Double Edged Publishing, Inc. has the goal of producing the best in the written word, and toward that goal, it is currently publishing four magazines with the help of a lot of great volunteers. And then...:

When I can, I like to hang out at Faith Music & Coffee Shop , where I get the chance to often hear great live music from the likes of Todd Agnew , Dave Nicar , Jamie Baker , and Tuesday Sun . There, I also enjoy their coffee, free wireless Internet, and great sandwiches!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I am interested in all kinds of people. Obviously, writers and others in the publishing business are high on the logical list. I'd also welcome bands and musicians, and I'd be open to invitations to review your music in my blog (see above). If you want to send me a CD, contact me and we can discuss that. If you are local to Memphis and want me to come out and see a show, also contact me with details!

Be my friend!

I'd love to add you! My practice is to pretty much add everyone who requests an add. So, how about it? Want to add me to your friends list?

I've had a few remarks that some people on my friend list don't seem like the "right" kind of people. Bah! It is my practice that if you are interested in the kinds of things I blog about, then I'll add you. Of course, the obvious spammer and porn distributors are not accepted! But that's about it. Otherwise, I accept people as they are! Like I said, if they are interested in what I have to say, then I'm happy to have them on my list.

Suggest a review!

After you add me, come back and leave a comment recommending your favorite MySpace Music site--let me know what you'd like to see reviewed! Of course, I can't review EVERYTHING, but I'll try to take a look at what's recommended.

Music:

What kind of music do I like? Fair question. If I am going to review music, you should care to know what I like and what I dislike in order to figure out if my opinion is worth the binary code required to put them on the Internet.

I like a wide variety of music. What I often dislike is messages in the lyrics more than the actual form of the music. That said, here's a sample of well-known groups over the ages that I like (no particular order or groupings):

Boston, Kansas, Yes, Foreigner, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Queen

Corinne Bailey Rae, Norah Jones, Mariah Carey, Sade

Sixpence None The Richer, Sting, Dave Mathews, Creed, Paul Simon

Chuck Berry, Elvis (old stuff), Beatles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Creedence Clearwater, Fleetwood Mac, America, Chicago, Van Halen, Van Morrison

Bob Seager, Steve Miller, Mellencamp, Hootie, Matchbox 20, Blues Traveler, They Might Be Giants, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jackson Brown

Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Nicole C. Mullen Yolanda Adams, Christina Aguilera (I know, I know, but she has pipes!)

Lecrae, Tobby Mac, KJ 52, Canton Jones

Audio Adrenaline, Third Day, DC Talk, Casting Crowns, Caedmon's Call

White Heart, Degarmo & Key, Mylon LeFevre

The Benjamin Gate, Rebecca St. James, Superchick, Barlow Girls, Newsboys

Faith Hill, Travis Tritt, et. al.

You can see I am all over the board. If it has a melody, I probably like it. The more thoughtful and smart the lyrics, the more I like it. As I said, most things that turn me off are because of the message, not the form.

I am a passionate Macintosh fan. I still use my 7 year-old tower daily to run Web-Net Solutions, LLC. and Double-Edged Publishing, Inc. Yes, the 7 year-old machine has the LATEST software, including MS Office and the whole Adobe design suite. But, you can get a new one if you like!
