About Me

I am a writer. That is not so much what I do as who I am. I tried to write my first novel when I was 12 -- a vampire tale. I've been writing ever since. Somewhere on here, I'll post some links to any current or archived links where people can go and read what I've had published in fiction and poetry.I am currently a staff writer AGAIN for The Daily Corinthian (Corinth, MS), after about six years of wandering. In my previous incarnation as a staff writer, I won several awards -- both with the Associated Press Association and Mississippi Press Association. With my sister Betty Jo's help, maybe I can get a picture of some of those awards to post here somewhere. I'm still figuring this site out. Sigh. I also write a weekly column for the Daily Corinthian. The column is a "Bombeckish" humorist sort of thing called "The Story Hour," where I chronicle my neuroses and tell on my family as often as possible. I've been doing it for over eight years now. It comes out every Wednesday. Now, that is fun, but what I really am, in my heart of hearts, is a writer of genre fiction -- fantasy, scifi and horror. Currently, I am working on a fantasy novel called "The Gifted." I have published a small poetry chapbook (most of it fantasy) called, "Passion Fruit and Other Loops" by Sam's Dot Publishing. (The poetry book and my novella, "Urbania," can be purchased at www.genremall.com) I'll also be one of the co-editors of a new fiction, poetry mag coming out (also by SDP) called, "Sounds of The Night." (writers: check out guidelines at samsdotpublishing.com)I have four kids wonderful kids -- three grown -- Amber (22); Whitney (20); Samantha (18); and a son, Jordan (13). They are the BEST CHILDREN IN THE WORLD!! 'Nuff said. I am divorced, 42 years old, and was in college up until the beginning of this semester. I've now put school back on hold as I become re-acclimated to being a professional writer again. ... Now, let's see what other mischief I can get into ... (sound of footsteps walking away ...)

My Interests

Writing, reading, movies, Renaissance festivals, religion, paranormal stuff, astrology, history, philosophy, I love discussing thoughts and ideas ... Which Tarot Card Are You?
You are the Star card. The Star is the light of hope. Shining in the night, sending light into darkness, the stars provide direction to sailors and are a field on which to dream. Humanity used to look up at the sky and desire to be there, to find out what it all meant, and now we have been a distance into space and have elementary ideas of the makeup of all the different stars. This kind of achievement adds further fuel to our hopes. The eternal, slow-moving stars that will be long shining past the end of our own existence provide hope of immortality, and the vast space they suggest and the very mystery they hold provide us with excitement and knowledge yet to be discovered.
