About Me

Bailey is the debut release on Northern Sun Recordings from singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist Ian Bailey, who recorded the album over a two-year period at the Voodoo Rooms, England. The album encompasses lo-fi folk - 'Aching And Waiting', psychedelic pop - 'Better Man', ambient beats - 'These Are Days' and raw, ragged, rampaging rock 'n' roll - 'Suicide Bullet Train', fused with intimate ballads enhanced by the lush orchestral arrangements of long time collaborator Richard Curran (Bert Jansch, Steve Tilston, cornershop, Angie Palmer). Deliberately setting out to create a piece of work that is as diverse as it is distinct is no easy task. Then again, it's apparent by the heart-felt lyrics that Bailey sings, whispers, spits out and screams during these recordings that he's not a man who's interested in taking the easy route. Although experimenting with musical styles and production on a debut release is sometimes seen as a risk, when the end result is capable of frequently transposing the listener to a place where poetry meets melody, melts and makes magic, it is a risk worth taking....
