I am one of THE 1st types of footwear known to humankind. Kind of a flat, backless sandal that consists of a flat sole. Held onto the foot by a u-shaped strap, which passes between the "big" toe and second toe to both sides of the foot. There it is attached to the sole at three points, commonly known as the thong strap. My ancestors were possibly developed out of traditional Japanese woven or wooden soled sandal in New Zealand. The pharaohs wore my ancestors. So did the ancient Indians, Assyrians, Romans, Greeks and of course, Japanese. I guess you could say that today I'm the "sole of good taste" for almost any occasion. No longer merely poolside or beachwear, you can find me pretty much everywhere around the world; from the sidewalks to the runways of fashion. I come in every shape, size and color you can think of... I don't discriminate, so I'm all about diversity.
