About Me

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------Duncan was born near London, England, where he studied jazz and classical music at Trinity College of Music. At the age of 16, Duncan left Trinity to play with NYJO, (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) where he played alongside some of the countries most talented, up and coming jazz musicians. Shortly after this, Duncan (still 16) was accepted into the SUNY Purchase Jazz Program, to study under Scott Wendholt and Charles Blenzig. (He has since studied with Kermit Driscoll, Tony Malaby, Alan Ferber, Hal Galper, Ray Vega and Todd Coolman). Duncan, having not finished High School, packed up his bags and his horn, and left for America. Now at the age of 18, Duncan is writing and performing music with a number of different artists in and around New York City. He is currently performing with his own group, of which they have a release titled Reaching Beyond. Duncan’s music is groove based, characterized by the use of dense harmony and odd time signatures, drawing influences from Kenny Wheeler, Bach and Radiohead.Duncan is currently attending Purchase College and will be leaving come May and moving to New York City; to further pursue his musical career as a performer, improviser and composer.--------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------------
