The compositions for "Four Songs For Five" are entirely written, performed and recorded by David using his guitars, guitar synthesiser and a sequencer.
He says:"It was not an easy task trying to capture and simulate the natural interplay that would occur in a real band and of course I could have taken it much further, but I was fairly pleased with the results. Hope you like them."
David is currently re-working some of the tunes and composing new material with a view to forming a new band to perform this music .
David is collaborating with top New York Jazz drummer John Favicchia.The results of which will be available in the near future.
Guitarist/Composer David Rollins has been a dedicated musician for the past 37 years. His career has seen him adapt effortlessly between musical genres including Jazz, Rock, Blues, and Acoustic.
Taking inspiration initially from the progressive rock of the early 70's, David developed an impressive ability in many different styles from a young age. He began playing live at the age of 17 and in 1980 became a member of Indie pop/rock band Passion Puppets. The bands first album on Stiff Records/MCA America was released in 37 countries worldwide. The band toured with Paul Young and Psychedelic Furs, as well as making television and radio appearances. David went on to secure a production deal for his own song writing and also began working as a session player.
Most notably he played with Jonas Gwangwa , co writer of the film score "Cry Freedom", performing at the 1988 Wembley Stadium Nelson Mandela concert.
It was at this time that his passion for Modern Jazz began upon hearing greats like John Scofied, Ralph Towner and Pat Metheny. This was also the start of a career teaching guitar professionally and becoming a member of The Registry of Guitar Tutors. He now runs the successful DRGT guitar tuition business having taught in excess of 2000 students.
David is also 1st call session guitar player for the excellent East River Studios in Docklands.
