Jazz will endure just as long people hear it through their feet instead of their brains - John Phili

About Me

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to stop in for a visit. A little about me....music has defined my life from the beginning. My family has the oldest music store in my hometown and, as a child, I remember the days of spinning 45 records, which sold for .89 cents! Some of the music I was into before I got into jazz....Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, Azmuth, Doobie Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Allman Brothers, Yes, Dan Fogelberg, Stevie Wonder, Ohio Players, Parliament, Bootsy Collins, Pointer Sisters, BT Express, The Barkays, Barry White, O'Jays...and the list goes on....I became involved in the jazz community via "The Jazz Nation", founded by A. Khalis Pride from Birmingham, AL. Our small group met back in the day of Jazz Central Station where we would all share our opinions (some quite heated!) of jazz....past, present and the future of jazz. The 5 of us in "The Nation" were advocates for the community of jazz. We had (and still have) one thing in common...our passion for jazz and the desire to spread the word on behalf of the artists. Sadly, The Jazz Nation came to an end in 2005.In my "everyday" life I am a Hospice/Palliative Care RN. I love my work and, although it is oftentimes sad, I am able to make a positive difference in the lives of my patients and their families. It is truly an honor to be a part of one of life's most intimate moments.I continue to be very passionate about jazz and music...as a listener as well as giving big support to the individual artists who reach out.Thank you again for visiting. Please feel free to stop by anytime to catch a tune or just to give a shout out.Big love and peace,~Amy ~ Keepin' a finger on the pulse of jazz!

My Interests

Music, especially contemporary jazz. Love a good talk show, especially NPR and Michael Baisden (everything IS everything!) Dave Chapelle makes me laugh until my sides hurt! Dabble in photography and interior design. Intrigued by Myers Briggs (I'm an INFP, and you?). Animal lover (the epitomy of true unconditional love). Adventure! (as long as it's legal! ha!)

I'd like to meet:

Fellow contemporary jazz enthusiasts, kind and thoughtful people, positive and optimistic people, my fellow INFP's *smile*, those who are humble and look for the good in all people and those with a passion for living, loving and learning! Please support the music of our creative musicians!Big love and peace,~Amy ~ Keepin' a finger on the pulse of jazz!

Music:

Jazz - contemporary, straight ahead and some smooth jazz and R&B/Soul. Love "Funk Fridays" on Sirius radio! One of the best kept secrets in jazz is Fred White aka "Balam". Fred is the keyboard player for Acoustic Alchemy. He is also a phenomenal photographer. Please click below to experience Fred....

Movies:

The Human Stain, Bring on the Night (classic documentary), Do the Right Thing, The Notebook, Mr. Holland's Opus (awesome message!), Something the Lord Made (based on a true story), Freedom Writers (Very inspirational and positive. Also based on a true story).

Discovery Channel, IFC, BET, and Comedy Central. Oh, and I love National Geographic and Animal Planet. Wow...the world is a big place! I also love football, believe it or not. I think it's the atmosphere of fun relaxation with a competitive edge.

Books:

Avid reader of The Placebo Journal (thank you Douglas Farrago, MD for the laughter so desperately needed in medicine!) I enjoy non-fiction and educational journals (I know, I'm boring!)
