Redlands, CA ~Joe is a former radio and television talk show host and newspaper columnist. He has worked in the social service, education, political and media arenas for over 40 years. The life-long Latino community advocate is now semi-retired, but still writes for various local and national media concerning issues that affect the Latino community. He was the first DJ to ever play TIERRA's music on the radio at KLOS-FM in 1972. He also has the distinction of being the first DJ to play Mark Guerrero's first record on both his TV show and radio. As a publicist, Joe specialized in promoting product and service campaigns for major companies like Johnnie Walker Black Label, Miller Brewing Company, Southland Corp. (7-Eleven Stores) and BAJACOM Paging Systems. Joe has also developed and implemented major publicity campaigns for various celebrities and sports personalities, including Rita Moreno, George Lopez, Milton Berle, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Boy George, Ricardo Montalban, Freddie Fender, Sha Na Na, sports legends such as Manny Mota, Tom Flores, Jim Plunkett, and many others. Joe has also provided public relations services to numerous community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Manny Mota International Foundation, Hollenbeck Youth Center, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Salesian Boys and Girls Club and the Boy Scouts/Tom Flores Celebrity Golf Tournament. He also provided public relations assistance to many community organizations dedicated to anti-drug abuse and gang violence. Joe has also managed the press relations for many elected officials including State Senator Diane Watson, former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, Los Angeles City Councilmen Richard Alatorre, Robert Farrell and John Ferraro.In 1988 Joe was listed as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the nation by Hispanic Business Magazine for his community service and excellence in broadcasting, along with renown Hispanics such as Rita Moreno, Geraldo Rivera and Paul Rodriguez, to name a few.
