Dj Kareem Raihani’s wide-ranging approach to music has led him to play with some of the most respected heavy weights in dance- & world music including: Francois K, Carl Craig, Theo Parrish, Shantel, Future World Funk, N.O.H.A., The Truby Trio, Dimitri from Amsterdam,and many more. His musical journeys have been delivered in venues from Panama (Amsterdam) to the Paradiso, from club NL to Off Corso, Pop Venues through out Holland and many…many partys. Aswell across nations taking in Spain, Belgium and the USA as well as at dance-& music-festivals such as Lowlands, World Port Jazz, Dance Valley, Mystery Land, Park Pop, WMC (Miami, USA). The Journey so far (Background):
Kareem Started back in ’88 buying records, and playing on small partys for friends, being hypnotized by the House beats. But it was Dimitri of Amsterdam, who discovered Kareem in 1996 and provided the platform for him to begin his DJ-ing career as his stand in during his set at the 'Hi Tech Soul Movement' night at the legendary "ROXY". Kareem's "Says Kabir broken mix" from Praful's latest album Pyramids in my Backyard, was played for 7 weeks in a row on BBC1 radio by the leaders of the Asian Underground, Bobby friction & Nihal. It earned lotst of good and warm response from the critics and is played by djs such as mentioned before, Bobby Friction & Nihal (BBC1 Radio), Pathaan (BBC1 Radio), Russ Jones (Future World funk) and many more, through out the globe. it is also featured on many compilations world wide.
At the Amsterdam Dance event '06 Kareem collaberated with The Konrad Koselleck Big Band with special guest performance by Ellen ten Damme, in the Bimhuis Venue.
This 20 piece Big Band was live remixed by kareem, creating a cutting edge performance of Big band jazz, live elektronics and efx blended into dance beats!
the result: A sold out Bimhuis venue was rocking untill the last note...
This live act was one of the hi lights of the '06 Amsterdam Dance Event.
At this Moment Kareem’s “Maka Monde†Project, together with M Dub (Fra), is being prepared for the Clubs & Festivals of ’08.
This live band is a high energy performance, with a fusion of Middel eastern, Afro, Indian and a tuch of reggae.
