Indian acoustic (Hindustani classical) music crossing over to Jazz and western music
Dinesh Mishra, Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute) player from Mumbai, India and Praful, sax&flute player from Amsterdam.
We met for the first time at Ängsbacka Festival, Sweden in July 2006, where we were both invited separately to give concerts. Immediately there was an enormous connection and feeling of brotherhood between us. We soon discovered that we both are students of the same Indian Bansuri Guru and Pandit, Hariprasad Chaurasia. With great pleasure we jammed together during the week long festival and sat in on each others concerts.
In Fall 2006 Dinesh happened to be back in Europe and we joined again for a performance at Open Sky House near Köln in Germany on November 17th. Guest musician Heiko Dijker played tabla with us. The concert was 100% improvised without prior rehearsals and lasted almost 3 hours - a beautiful heartful encounter in a space of trust and healing. Often meditative to the point of Zen, but also at times bubbling with energy and fire. The concert was recorded and the best pieces and sections are up on this page for your listening pleasure.
Dinesh & Praful can be booked for concerts - please contact us thru this page or at [email protected]
