funkcutter is a PUNKVERT!!!
About me:
funkcutter is part of Punkvert VJs , with candi's flipped, a handfasted gender bemused team playing out everywhere that's exotically grotty, glamorously misrepresented and decadently kitsch. Their visuals involve animation, cut up skullduggery and finger tingling mixing, all of which often end up as part of their hard-art exhibitions. They have appeared regularly hosting their autonomous polysexual cabaret happenings Subterfuge (where Valentine meal's courses are served from the sweet yet sticky bodies of their regular performers) as well as gargantuan demonstrations for the unhinged and saliently self-indulgent at unique events such as the Dragon Festival in Grenada, at home in London for the darlings of the New York Burlesque Festival Burly-Q 'a queer cabaret' and commissions for theatrical productions including 'Seduction' by Jack Heifner for Shameless Boyz and Irvine Welsh's 'Headstate' for Bittersweet Theatre Company.
Funkcutter also forms one half of "control z! control z!" with P Blackwood and is part of Anarchistwood punkrock 'lectro trash up experience not to be missed. Ever. Anarchistwood also includes the wonderful Sister Double Bubble Trouble, Clem NZ Jones, Mada Nomdak, Andro, Leftie Midget, The Baroness, Lady Muck and VJ KodeK.
Funkcutter VJs for Temposhark on their more prestigious gigs (!) particularly the Latitude Festival 2006 with the uniquely exotic Ryan Styles on stage also. Funkcutter VJs for William Besson in the UK and France. Resident VJ for Outlaw - the Alabama 3 night at Brixton's glorious Jamm venue, funkcutter VJs for Robert Love and the Nihilistics, many bands and DJs and also for burlesque artiste extraordinaire Devillia De Dallas, particularly when she performs with Anarchistwood . Resident
VJ at Rock against Racism , LMHR and Unite , funkcutter has performed
regularly to enthusiastic crowds since 2001.
Prior to this, funkcutter performed under the name 'mad knitter' at Triology, Kult, Monastery of Sound, Exodus, Unsound and many squat parties across London.
Funkcutter has directed several AV pieces, including 'One Useless Prick' currently being shown at the Frameline 31 Bi Film Festival in SF and 'Strip 333',
screened at the 2005 Portobello
Film Festival and as part of an art installation
at the Foundry in London. Her newest film made in collaboration with husband P Blackwood and the Treatment Rooms Collective - is a feature length documentary - Tales from the Treatment Rooms : The Luis Ramirez Story about the work of the Baroness von Reichardt - the mosaics across her house in Chiswick; as a shrine to the memory of Luis Ramirez who was executed for a crime he did not commit in Texas 20th October 2005.
Funkcutter's real name is Emma Blackwood and she has been a freelance writer for such zines as Kinokaze, Bubble Jam and for DJ Magazine - for her sins - in the VJ~Scan section. When she is not doing this, she is continuing to make pop videos for Anarchistwood, raising children making art and beauty and generally enjoying getting older and wiser.
