NORTHAMPTON BLISS FESTIVAL FINALE PARTY!!!!!
PRESS RELEASEA MIDSUMMER’S NIGHTMARE
Dig up Lost Vagueness at their evening of Midsummer madness, in conjunction with the Northampton Bliss festival and competition winning artist Louise Clarke, exhibiting her amazing collection ‘show me your garden and I shall tell you what you areâ€â€¦.
The Bliss Finale party…
Expect the unexpected as we turn the Fishmarket into an underwater garden of midsummer’s madness….Carnivorous cabaret, monstrous musical acts, and unearthly aerial performance, together with wartime warbling and comedic capers, add a dash off the daring delights of a burlesque beauty and of course our own shoal of walkabout artists mixing tomfoolery with fishmongery. Eccentricity from Lost Vagueness..s perennials Bubbles and Squeak. Completed by the walkabout antics of Bob Sutcliffe in surreal and macabre guises.
Incorporating the Lost Vagueness Lost Luck casino, ….try your luck at roulette or black jack with our green fingered croupiers.
The sonnets will include:
Headlining:
Pete Bennet and the Love dogs….The love dogs are long standing musicians, one of whom just happened to be the winner of Big Brother ….describing themselves as ‘modern techno rock’ we prefer the phrase ‘right up our street’ Having played for us (and survived) the Glastonbury mud, we welcome them back with open arms. Dressed in costumery, which is wrong, but very, very right, this is raw talent on a stick.
Joined by:
Afrocentric punk with retro sampled beats, Hackney Boots, this five piece neo hip hop urban outfit will get your feet a tapping and your soul a searching. Straight out of Hackney, (on day release) they write about their immediate surroundings. Listing influences as diverse as, John Lennon and Nina Simone, to the Dead Presidents….
Warm your cockles with Contemporary Jazz piano from local legend John Bowman
Stage show starring the fabulously wrong Pustra/vile-eeen’s vaudeville, who will dish out their own inimitable style of vaudeville cabaret, think Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, on acid, described recently by Time out as ‘dripping in Technicolor’…just two of the colourful characters this talented twosome will inhabit this fine midsummer’s evening.
Revel in the delights of our special guest arielist, in this first time ever ariel performance in the venue. Foxy, but not in the way you’d imagine…
Mixing 1940’s class with noughties sass….Delores miel, sheffield Blues chanteuse will sing the (Deep) blues accompanied by local talent John Bowman on piano.
Cabaret craziness from the special guest, dancer, performance artist, singer and all round angel……
A selection of ska from Diggin it DJ Andy Skank
Polished off with a selection of rock n roll/swingin/rockabillty classics delicately spun by DJ Suave, Purveyor of the Devil’s own music.
Shakespeare is already turning in his grave……

PRESS ANNOUNCEMENTLOST VAGUENESS CALLS TIME AT THE GLASTONBURY FESTIVALAfter ten monumental years, the ‘festival within the festival’ which is Lost Vagueness will NOT be happening at Glastonbury 2008.
It is rumoured that the vacuum created by the Lost Vagueness departure, will be filled by some ex Lost Vagueness crew and others, attempting to re-create a similar production in the same area. In the absence of any Glastonbury festival press release on this matter, we do not want you to be misled by this omission. Reproduction of our shows, without our permission or endorsement have been tried before, and however flattering these imitations may be, they will never come close to the real thing.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our fans for their continued support throughout the years who have followed our shows at the festival, and hope this announcement will not disappoint too many of you.
To allay that disappointment, Lost Vagueness will be participating in other events and ventures around the country. Announcements will be made shortly.
HISTORY....
Lost Vagueness started in 1998 as a casino after originating from an illicit bar on the outskirts of Glastonbury Festival. The original irony of travellers in top hats is now overshadowed by the sheer quality of the show: however the grass-roots humour remains undiminished. As well as running the only field in Glastonbury’s history to be closed due to overcrowding in 2003, and proving a big success at Glasto 2004 and 2005, Lost Vagueness has staged its own events at Strawberry Fair (Cambridge), Stokefest (Stoke Newington) and The Coronet (London), where the Lost Elephant Ball sold out in May 2006. It also showcased a selection of acts at The Lovebox festival in Victoria Park, The Electric Picnic Boutique Festival in Ireland, and ran its own festival near Lewes, East Sussex, in late summer 2004 and 2005.
Lost Vagueness was formed as a company in 2003, assisted by Arts Council of England funding.
