About Me

"Among John Peel's many services rendered to popular culture was spawning a thousand imitators to continue unearthing new music that might not otherwise see the light of day. Roaming club night Kabarett Spielraum are one of the agents who've taken up the mantle, bringing little-known art rock to venues around London." [Flavorpill]
"When the strapline on a press release reads 'It Shall Be An International Cabaret - We Want To Do Some Beautiful Things', you sit up and take notice...'Cabaret Playroom' looks great." [Time Out]
Spike Spiegel is the mind behind Kabarett Spielraum, a music club inspired by Dada and Situationism. The club began on May 23rd 2004 and was conceived as a platform to introduce audiences to new and experimental music in a comfortable environment.
Acts that have graced our stage include: 28 Costumes, Andrew Bailey, Brickface, Cartridge, Data Panik (RIP), David Cronenberg's Wife, Deathline, Devilia de Dallas, Gertrude, Man From Uranus, Now, One More Grain, The Rebel, Rosalita, Royal Treatment Plant, Rude Mechanicals, Scorpio Scorpio, Venom Seeds and Wet Dog.
Spike Spiegel has also found time to DJ alongside live acts such as The Chap and Test Icicles. The lead singer of Selfish Cunt was heard describing one DJ set as 'interesting', which has got to count as some sort of compliment.
