Lunfardo is a young and sparkling tango quartet from Belgium. They take Argentinean Tango music as a starting point and from there on search for ways to experiment with forms, rythms and improvisations.
Ananta Roosens studied Tango music in the Conservatory of Rotterdam where she studied with a.o. Gustavo Beytelmann, Victor Hugo Villena and workshops with a.o. Pablo Agri. She performed at the International tango festival in Buenos Aires 2006 with the orquesta tipica Otra. She founded the sparkling Lunfardo band in 2003 because her collection of cider bottles had ran out of gas. Ever since then Lunfardo has been playing concerts in Belgium, Holland and France. Recently Christiaen Claessens, the steady pianist of the band moved to Vanuatu (a small island in the middle of the pacific, check your map!) to investigate the habits of the local 'parkitanyu turtle'. When he finishes his obeservations in Vanuatu, Christiaen will come back to join the band. Untill then the brilliant and sparkling Korean pianist Young Mi Choi will be playing piano in the Lunfardo quartet.
