About Me
Skean Dubh
(pronounced Skeen Doo)
They are one of the most enjoyable Acoustic bands in the Rocky Mountain region. Their diverse repertoire spans centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, Scottish ballads, Irish pub-songs, and gorgeous slow airs.
These versatile musicians have received accolades consistently over the years for their exuberant performances. They have that unique combination of traditional melodies, driving rhythmic accompaniment, and extremely musical vocals that make their performances unforgettable. The music may be Folk, but the drive and enthusiasm are akin to full on rock.
Skean Dubh, named for the small dirk traditionally worn with the Scottish kilt, have been performing and touring for over 10 years. They have brought their unique mixture of old, new and traditional favorites, through the radio, television and internet to the world over including: Ireland, Scotland, Slovenia, and of course the U. S.
Skean Dubh has continually delighted audiences both with their musical styling and with their unusual instrumentation (a unique blend of traditional and modern instruments) including: fiddle, guitar, banjo, bouzouki, Uilleann pipes, whistles, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, doumbek, accordion, and bass.
