The Fall and Rise of Trio Bier

About Me

Deze site is opgezet als een ode aan een Nederlandstalige band, die misschien te vroeg begonnen is, of misschien wel te vroeg gestopt, Trio Bier!
Ze werden wel het best bewaarde geheim van Nederland genoemd.
Hun afscheidsconcerten, ja, meerdere, trokken fans vanuit Limburg tot de kop van Noord Holland, en speelden zich o.a. af in uitverkochte zalen van Paradiso en de Kleine Komedie.
Maar het bloed kruipt waar het niet gaan kan, de 'heftige baasjes' werken aan een groots rentree!
Jan Eilander en Rini Dobbelaar zien elkaar minimaal één keer in de week. Het tempo waarin ze nieuwe liedjes produceren is adembenemend. De voltallige band van weleer is weer vol enthousiasme aan het oefenen en opnemen.
Vanaf medio mei 2008 zal er weer opgetreden gaan worden! Overleg met diverse podia en festivals is gaande!

Reunions of Trio Bier

Friday, the 12th of October, 2007.
Trio Bier performed as a support act for PF Sloan..
at one of the best hidden places to be in Amsterdam.
'Daar Vandaan' is one of their nostalgic songs.., with a smile..

Friday, the 14th of September, 2007.
Trio Bier did another reunion at 'De Meerpaal', in Dronten
The place of birth of Jan Eilander
They performed as a support act for 'De Dijk'
It was a short, but beautiful, performance!

Saturday, the 16th of June, 2007.
A great spectacle found place on the "Westermarkt" in Amsterdam
the Theo Thijssen Sport and Play Day.
Jan Eilander played with his new band, "De Hoofdmannen"
Here the song 'Danseres' of Jan's former band, Trio Bier.
With a quest performance of Rini Dobbelaar on accordeon and quitar it was like the old days of Trio Bier were back again...

Biography of Trio Bier


Monday, the 11th of April, 2005.

Trio Bier performed as a street band
playing "Amsterdam Oude Wolf"
on the Dam Square in Amsterdam.

It was recorded by NPS television for use in a documentary,
about the crowning of our Queen in 1980
and broadcasted on friday the 29th of April, 2005.

In the year 2000, Trio Bier changed their band name in ’Oud West’.

They launched their 3th, and last, album; ’Bakkum aan Zee’


In the august of 2001 Oud West (Trio Bier) had the following band members:

Jan Eilander - Lead Singer
Rini Dobbelaar - Accordeon, Acoustic Quitar, Gitaar, Mondharmonica, Singer
Roelf ter Veld - Bass, Singer
Rob Ero - Drums (since 1995)
Koos Prins - Piano, Saxophone, Singer (since 1997)
Cor van den Berg - Guitar (since 1998)


Sunday evening, 26th of August 2001.


The rain was pooring down, it was cold and the people stood in the mud.
But the section that followed, was more than worth it..

Oud West / Trio Bier, Uitmarkt 2001


Sunday afternoon, 26th of August 2001.


Oud West was half way performing its second set when the organization of "De Uitmarkt" asked them to quit.
On the head stage, where a classic concert was going on, the conductor had threatened to stop, burdoned by the music of Oud West...
After a lot of commotion it was agreed that Oud West was allowed to play a last song on the head stage in the evening.

Wednesday, the 28th of November, 2001

Ivo, fan from the first hour, wrote the following beautiful, but sad words,
on his Dutch fan site of Trio Bier.

A few days ago I found out, with pain in my heart,
that Oud West (Trio Bier) had decided to stop as a band.
Last Monday, the 26th of November, their partings concert was played in

’De Kleine Komedie’, Amsterdam.

The desired success stayed away,
but the beautiful music will remain in our hearts!

Oud West will never be forgotten.
Thanks for all these beautiful years!
Thanks for the dutch gin.
Our glasses will remain tear-filled, for always...

Kleine Komedie, 26th of November 2001.


Trio Bier played their final concert in the ’Kleine Komedie, Amsterdam.
They ended it drinking, dutch gin, with the audience during their last song
’betraande glaasjes’...
