Born 17 November 1989 in Leuven, Belgium. Named after Joni Mitchell by her Philippine mother and Belgian father. Joni plays the guitar and writes her own songs.
It started with a solo at the annual christmas show at elementry school, she was eleven back then. In secondary school she sang in a choir for three years. This choir supported Lea Gilmore, an American gospel singer, during Lea's performances in Ghent. At the age of 15, Joni went to music academy. She wanted to learn how to play the guitar. This lasted for one year. She quit music academy and started learning on her own.
In 2005, she signed up for her first singing contest. She won 2nd place. The same thing happened in 2006 and in 2007 she became number one. After three years learning the guitar intensively, it was time to aim a little higher than local singing contests.
In 2008 Joni wrote her first songs. She sent her demo and signed up for several singer-songwriter contests. She made it to the finals for JONGE WOLVEN. She won bronze medal for Stella Music Buskers 2008 during Marktrock. And right now she's in the semi-finals for the KIF KIF AWARDS. Also she is selected for FEESTNEUS ZOEKT ARTIEST / ARTIEST ZOEKT FEESTNEUS.
