About Me

Swallow Hill Music Association is dedicated to the presentation, teaching, preservation, and encouragement of folk music and dance, and to make the live enjoyment of folk music a vital part of Denver’s cultural life. As the largest organization of its kind in the West, we are a nonprofit with a rich history of grassroots advocacy for roots, acoustic and folk music.
Our Julie Davis School of Music serves the entire family with a professional faculty of more than 60 instructors who offer private and group instruction and workshops with our performing artists to more than 3,500 students each year.
Swallow Hill produces more than 200 performances each year with many heavyweight headlining legends as well as new talent in a variety of genres, including folk, bluegrass, blues, jazz, world roots music and singer/songwriters. We also host unique Festivals and special concert series programs.
Swallow Hill continues to evolve and serve the Denver metro community, augmenting and enriching music programs offered in public schools. Our “Traveling Troupe” goes to schools to offer multicultural programs and we have special field trip concerts for children as well as offer school assemblies.
As one of the Tier II organizations of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), Swallow Hill receives a portion of funding via the 0.1% retail sales and use tax. This funding is dependent on meeting a minimum operating budget as well as attendance thresholds, so your support of our programs makes it happen!
