Why are you standing there? Get me some chemicals!

About Me

I've been wandering around on this third rock from the sun and what I've learned so far is you just gotta take life one day at a time, as cliche as that may sound. It's the friggin' truth! I live my life with as much integrity as possible.
I was born and raised in a small farming community in Kentucky, the fifth member of a poor, blue collar family. My father and sister did the best they could to support us but we always were below poverty line. As a result, I have instilled in me a hard work ethic and a mission to help those around me find their way. I was raised very religiously and while I do not necessarily dismiss religious thoughts or feelings in general, I can say that I don't believe in or follow any one dogma. I believe there are many paths and we each have to find our own way and make our own peace.
When I was old enough to leave my home, I spent some years in college and traveling, trying to find where I fit, eventually landing in the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado. I love it here and I think the vibe here suits me. I spent a lot of my 20s having fun and being the typical working girl. I learned much.
As I settle into my *gulp* 30s, I feel I've finally figured out why I'm on this planet. With past jobs in the fields of marketing and public relations, and with my husband 's music career and band and my love of music, I have evolved into making a living out of marketing/public relations/promotions for music. As a former band geek and long-time writer and charmer, it has been a natural evolution. In December of 2006, I went full-throttle with it and launched my own business, Spunky Marketing . I'm also working now at one of the top acoustic/folk/roots music centers in the West, Swallow Hill Music Association . Life is getting more and more awesome all the time for me and I blame it all on a good attitude and following my heart and passion in life.
I can't wait to see what the future holds!
You dance with crocuses.
You are Dr. Frank-n-Furter!

My Interests

Writing, reading, film (particularly Indie ones, and foreign—-esp. French--ones), art, music, hiking/camping, video gaming (GTA in particular), 420 and psychedelics, alternative lifestyles, healing arts, philosophy, politics, social issues, cooking, Asian (particularly Japanese) language and culture, traveling, everything good in life!

I'd like to meet:

Other glam rockers who want to RULE THE WORLD...
You Are a Glam Rocker!
You put the "show" in rock show with your larger than life self.
No doubt, you are all about making good music...
But what really gets you going is having an over the top show.
Glitter, costumes, and wild hair are your thing - with some rock thrown in! What Kind of Rocker Are You?

Music:

Shakespeare is right: "The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night, And his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted."

I have a wide range of likes when it comes to music, from funk to old school hip hop and R&B, back to some good ol' country twangin, hard rock and thrashin' metal...ooh, me loves it all!

Punk
You're a classic punker. Hard headed and strongly motivated in government relations. You probably like a lot of underground bands that other people at your school don't really know about. You consider people who shop at Hot Topic to be posers and you're overly proud of who you are.

Movies:

I'm all about George Romero, his DEAD movies and The Crazies and Season of the Witch, etc.
The Jerk
Yellow Submarine
Amadeus
The Piano Teacher
Anchorman
Lost in Translation
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover
The Girl on the Bridge
Napoleon Dynamite
Pooty Tang
Nacho Libre
Talk to Her
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

Television:

I prefer films to television, but I do have a thing for A&E programming, especially Cold Case Files and The First 48. I enjoy any crime/forensics TV but those are the best in my opinion...I also enjoy watching stuff on the Discovery Channel (especially I Shouldn't Be Alive!) and History Channel, items about culture and life. And yes, I admit I do indulge in some reality here and there...don't hate me for it!

Books:

I have a HUGE soft spot for Tom Robbins and all his novels, particularly Jitterbug Perfume and Another Roadside Attraction. His writing really came to me at a time when I needed it and it will always be at the very top of my list. He has really influenced me as a creative being. Other favs:Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Hunter S. Thompson is another HUGE influence to me, creatively, may he rest in peace), Wonder Boys, The Hours, The Cider House Rules, and The Color Purple.

Heroes:

My husband has truly become a hero to me because he is always more patient and filled with lovingkindness than me. I love you, Chris/Citrus! :)

Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men's reality. Weird heroes and mold-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of "the rat race" is not yet final. -- HUNTER S. THOMPSON, 1937-2005
