About Me

THANK YOU TO MYSPACE FOR NOMINATING OUR GRASS ROOTS NEW ORLEANS MUSICIANS RELIEF FUND PART A SECOND TIME UNDER THE IMPACT AWARD COMMUNITY BUILDING CATEGORY.MySpace has also provided our Impact PayPal Badge above. Increments starting at $5. It serves as our holiday fund drive, totally green since you'll never get a glossy brochure followup. Every little bit counts and it's how our grass roots nonprofit has kept helping for two years now.The 501(c)3 New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund pays no office rent, utilizes volunteer social workers and hires only two employees to help your donation dollar go further. Founded by and for displaced musicians, the Fund has helped hundreds of still-displaced musicians with funds, instruments and housing as they continue to rebuild their lives.

This is the new NOMRF video featuring the late Barry Cowsill's "Kid" and REM's "South Central Rain". It kicks off with Barry jugging bubbles, a very Barry thing to do if you knew him. Our founder Jeff Beninato, former bass player for the dB's, was in The Stragglers with Barry. The New Wave Brass Band second lined at Barry's memorial and our Fund was glad to be able to replace the band's instruments after the storm, along with others.

About the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund
New Orleans musicians founded NOMRF days after the levees failed and plan to keep the help going out as benefits and individual donations come in. NOmrf is still working to help displaced musicians get by. From blogs to podcasts, we’re a true grass-roots fund that sends help out to musicians who need it.
Here's REM's Entertainment Weekly Video for the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund and Mercy Corp:

As Dr. John said at one of our NOMRF shows, “This ain’t coming from government, federal, state, city - none of that. It’s coming from people that care about people. And that’s what it’s really supposed to be about . . The federal government was somewhere in the wind. Everybody was somewhere else for a long time. And that just ain’t cool. And so we do what we can for individuals.”

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

T-Shirts are billboards. You can sport your support for New Orleans musicians at our (Shop) . All proceeds from the merchandise fund our relief efforts. Donations are tax-deductible.
Feel free to put a link to our site (NOMRF.org) or any thing else on your blog, MySpace, web site, podcast or Facebook page, and anywhere else you can. Email it to your friends, family, coworkers.

You're also welcome to link to the RE-Define 8/29 image, too: (Redefine Image) . "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted (here) by Peter Holsapple and the dB's was the first the official download for the campaign 2 years ago. New Orleans artist Dennis Procopio donated his time and talent for our campaign logo.
Headstrong Amps donated our New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund Auction Amp with supporters Dr. John, Little Steven, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Little Steven and Mike Mills signing.
NOMRF welcomed Liverpool musician Joe Topping last October when he walked across the country making his way from Chicago to New Orleans to raise funds and awareness for New Orleans musicians. The Voodoo Vixens and our wonderful 11-year-old supporter Jake helped greet him with a second line - the best way to greet anyone.
