Jim Brannigan

Singer of Traditional, Scottish & Irish Folk Songs

About Me

Want to make a request? If there is a song that you would like me to sing for you, drop me a line here and I'll see what I can do. If you have a wee listen on my player, you'll find that I have usually added a couple of songs which have not made it on to any albums yet. Mostly, they're just recordings of my practice sessions at home. Some will be the framework for future albums and have been recorded at home using "Mixcraft", "Fast Track 2 USB, Audio interface" and an "AKG, Perception 100" or "C1000S" microphone. Feel free to download these. They are far from perfect and most will be deleted when I take them off My Space.

A compilation from three of Jim's albums and is available only through CD Baby. This album provides a pleasing blend of some of the more soulful, traditional, Irish and Scottish songs as well as some of his own compositions.

Scottish Folk Singer Jim Brannigan has recently returned to Vancouver Island following four years of playing and living on Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island where he quickly became a favourite with tourists and locals alike. Jim has been entertaining North American audiences with his own unique style since 1979 and is held in very high regard by others in the entertainment world. His concerts consist of mainly Celtic Folk songs, (he is a Scot, though of Irish stock) and some Canadian and Australian & American folk songs as well as a steady flow of Brannigan humour and some of his own musical compositions. He has three albums to his credit; The Singing Bird, The Hills of Margaree & Troubadour.Jim Brannigan has played coffee houses, concerts, ,house concerts, festivals, hotels, lodges, pubs, lounges, clubs, cafe's, restaurants, markets and fairs and is well known for his ability to interact with the audience. He keeps a very busy schedule and has toured coast to coast many times. Now that he is back and living in the Highlands outside of Victoria, Jim is determined to play in as many BC & Alberta communities as he possibly can. ...
"What an absolute joy to run into Erynn Marshall right here on MySpace. We shared many, fun filled gigs at O'Bean's Cafe, along with Jeremy Walsh, back in the 90s. She joins me on "The Singing Bird" album and is without exception, the best fiddler that I have ever heard."Jim Brannigan, Fabrizio de Andre, Bryan Bowers, Enya, The Dubliners, Sinead O'Connor, Clannad, Altan, Great Big Sea, Lunasa, Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Mozart, Beethovan, Al Grierson, Roger Miller, Rogers & Hammerstein, Paul Simon, Weird Al Yankovich, Clandestine, Ed Miller, Bing Crosby, Barenaked Ladies, They Might Be Giants, Jackopierce, Angelo Branduardi, Bjork, Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, The Wolfe Tones, Great Big Sea, Gaelic Storm, Flogging Molly, Black 47, Dervish, Martin Carthy, Ewan MacColl, Emerald Rose, Bedlam Bards, Avalon Rising, Brother, Cantiga, Owain Phyfe, Ceann, Celtic Stone, Dust Rhinos, The Tea Merchants, Blaggards, Emtpy Hats, Enter the Haggis, Fathom, Flook, The Clancy Brothers, The Corries, The Dubliners, Silly Wizard, Andy M. Welcome Friends

Finally getting some time to spend catching up with things here! I'm mostly at home these days, looking after our 3 year old "Maura Mae" and working on a new album which should be ready by late summer...
