Celtic and Cross-Over 4 and 5 String Fiddle

About Me

Originally from Suffolk, England, I've made my home in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado for the last ten years. Coming from a huge, musical family, I've played the fiddle for about 27 years, getting hooked on trad Irish music through my Dad's Irish family and later through the vibrant folk scene of Northern England where I lived while studying at Durham University.
Colorado is a mecca for great music, great skiing and riding, breath-taking nature, and provides fantastic oldtime, bluegrass and Irish picks most nights of the week. Altogether a great place to live!
I currently play full time with Gaelic Storm, which means touring around 200 days a year with the funnest bunch of lads I've ever met. Being the only girl on board, I can say its been quite the education! We're currently completing a new album, due to be released in July 2008. The new year kicked off with some great tours, one with The Bare Naked Ladies , on their cruise to Jamaica, and one with Lyle Lovett, Emmy Lou Harris and many more on the Caribbean Cayamo cruise. We're heading for foreign shores in June when we'll be touring in Australia - which we're all looking forward to. Then coming back to the USA for a festival packed summer.
Outside of my work with Gaelic Storm, which started in April 2007, past projects have included forming The Wayfarers with Christel Rice, Jefferson Hamer and Sean Sutherland, becoming the first Irish Band to compete in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, placing second in 2003. The Wayfarers have opened for Cherish the Ladies, Boys of the Lough, Nickel Creek and Yonder Mountain String Band, and performed at numerous Southwest Festivals.
More recently I've worked with my favorite songsmith of all time: Gregory Alan Isakov in his band The Freight, recording on his new album: That Sea, The Gambler and with UK based singer-songwriter, David Ford. When not on the road with Gaelic Storm, I play with guitarist Jon Sousa and Fiddler Adam Agee in, Lilt, which performs in Colorado throughout the year. When my feet touch home ground I teach, record as a session musician and have produced 3 albums to date. Other times I'm hiding out in the rural farmlands of England with my mad family.
