About Me

I am the best director you will never meet. I have directed only four films in 33 years. Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, and The New World. I haven't given an interview since the mid-seventies and I don't like to be photographed. I don't really need a script to shoot with...all I really need is about 1 to 1.5 milion feet of film so I can shoot people walking around and looking at each other for six months. Movies are made in the editing room, so as long as I have a couple of weeks worth of footage of trees and swaying grasses I'll be ok. My only peers are Werner Herzog, Stanley Kubrick, and Claire Denis. And now that Stanley is dead, the torch has been passed to me as the most reclusive and talented director in America.

My Interests

Making the most beautiful, existential, impressionistic films of all time via pissing off studio execs because I gave them a silent film where people stare at each other for three hours while the camera peers up at the trees.
