Jay Meachum

I'm originally from Lexington, NC. I'm married and reside in King, NC with my wife, Susan and our two boys Brandon (13) and Joey (15). I'm a freelance trumpeter and arranger and I work mainly around the Piedmont/Triad area of North Carolina. I teach in the music department at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. I teach all the brass majors, brass methods, and the Jazz Band. I have a Horn section called Soul Vaccination. We play concerts, recording sessions, and provide quality horn arrangements equal to any you'd hear out of L.A. or Nashville. I am fortunate to be able to work with some absolutely talented and anointed musicians. Below are some of the groups that I have had the pleasure of performing with/for: The Broadway musical "Chicago", Quincy Jones, Wynonna Judd, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Aretha Franklin, The Manhattan Transfer, Dave Boyers, Ashford & Simpson, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Fifth Dimension, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Cab Calloway Orchestra, The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, The Manhattans, Peaches and Herb, Ben E. King, Clark Terry's Big Band, Arturo Sandoval's Big Band, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and The Guy Lombardo Orchestra. I have also worked extensively in shows and with various artists on cruise ships and I have also lived in Spain where I performed in a show called "Son Amar Espectaculo. I've had the privilege of working in the recording industry, regionally, providing top quality horn sections and arrangements.
