Reading and writing. Traveling. This is a slide show from a recent trip to Knoxville, TN, to meet my first granddaughter, Brianna Marie Carter. She was born March 23, 2007, and weighed 5 lbs 9 oz.
I would like to meet literary agents interested in literary fiction and/or memiors. I am currently working on a book about my mother, Laura. She had a stroke a few years ago and the book covers how the stroke changed her and our entire family's life. It is actually a funny little book and it's not meant to be depressing nor regretting. My mother suffers from apraxia, a speech disorder, as a result of the stroke. She is able to speak but the words she wants to say rarely resemble the words she actually says. For example, she recently called me on the phone and said, "I can tell you the secrets of the children." Come to find out, she was asking me if I was going to eat lunch with her today. She has a great sense of humor which is definitely required to deal with the frustration of apraxia. I hope the book will successfully illustrate the strength, stubborness and humor of this magnificent lady, my mother.
Another book I've been massaging for several years is a sort of coming-of-age novel that involves loss, love, depression and hope. The story follows a young man who suddenly loses a lifelong friend. At the funeral, the man struggles with the loss of his close friend while simultaneously lusting after his dead friend's wife. This is a wonderful little story that would make an excellent movie (in my opinion, of course).
So, if there are any ligit agents out there interested in either one of these stories, please drop me a line and let me know.
