About Me

About Rob Watts
I'm from a fun little city on the east coast called Boston. I'm a published author with a new book coming out in 08 titled The Sounds from Boston , which is a tribute to the Boston music scene. I have another book in the works as well, which will come out at a later time....when the timing is right. I am a professionally trained chef as well, although I am not currently active in the field these days as I am focusing more on my writing as well as traveling. I earned my Associate in Science in Culinary Arts as well as my Associate in Science in Hotel/Restaurant/Travel Management in the mid 90's. During my college years, as well as after, I was employed at several food service establishments over a span of 12 years. I had the pleasure of working in 4 star upscale restaurants and hotels in Boston...as well as some not-so-great restaurants. My final stop in the culinary field was as a head chef at a men's prison, which believe it or not, was a pretty cool job position. (No, I wasn't a resident). At that point, I felt it was time to hang up my "chefs" hat for a while and concentrate on new ventures. I'm now involved in my family business which is stainless design and installation. We design/install stainless steel kitchen's for high end homes. You've seen us in New England Home Magazine, Southern New England Home Magazine and Boston Magazine as well as on Bob Vila's Home Again television show. I also run and own my own publishing company in which I will release my work under. I'm also working with 2 new authors in writing and publishing their first books. I am the founder and creator of Ocean View Press, a website devoted to supporting the independent arts. I am currently learning some new languages...I learned a little Chinese Mandarin. Last June I started a course in Icelandic. It's impossible to speak fluently if you weren't born there, but I'm taking it one step at a time. I workout and play bass guitar....both are great stress relievers. I love to travel to new and exciting places. I like to have a good time with life and experience all that it has to offer. I refuse to let anything or anyone harsh my mellow. Come Visit me atBostonAuthor.comandOceanViewPress.com (You will not lose your MySpace page)

I'd like to meet:

People I Want to Know

Anyone who enjoys my friendship and would like to be along for the adventure. This page is not an advertisement, it's about creating new friendships. Admittedly, I surround myself with "yes people." I have no use for suppressive elements. I've met my quota of them over the years. I like smile generators and positive doers. On here, I like making new friends from all over the world. People who enjoy writing, traveling, music, cooking, baseball, Hockey...(Even better if you're a Red Sox or Bruins fan). Authors and musicians are always welcome of course. WITH THAT BEING SAID. I will quickly delete anyone who posts tasteless comments or advertisements (I'd like everyone to enjoy this page.) I respond to all messages/ comments. It takes no time or effort to say hi back to nice people.

What I Am Currently Doing

I'm a staff writer for R&M Magazine, an arts magazine based in Los Angeles, California. I contribute musician interviews and reviews. (The Dec/Jan issue is out now.) I also do some writing for The Noise in Boston. I'm putting together a book tour to coincide with my forthcoming title "The Sounds from Boston", due out in 2008. When time allows, I am out on the local Boston scene reviewing live Boston bands for various outlets. I'm in the beginning stages of gathering research for a new project I'm working on in Iceland. More will be added to this soon I'm sure.
