I have been to more than 30 countires and cities in the world, places like Monaco, Paris, Rome, Athens, Toulouse, Malta, Beijing, Bombay, Cairo, Senegal,Ivory Coast, Togo, Malawi,Kigali, Zimbabwe, kenya, Rwanda,Frankfurt, London, Accra, Sudan and more. My favorite place is South Africa, I miss the music, cheap trendy shopping, checking out arts shows and just striking cool conversation every where I go.I love where I come from but the rush for oil is destroying countries like Sudan and its neighbors including my country. Oil revenues to Khartoum,capital of Sudan, have been about $1 million a day, but the money is spent on helicopters and bomber missiles. Thus, oil is fueling the genocide in Darfur at every level. This is the context in which Darfur must be understood and, with it, the whole of Africa. The same Africa whose its resources of indigenous cultures, wealth of forests and savannas was torn apart by three centuries of theft by European colonial powers seeking slaves, ivory, gold, and diamonds is being devastated by the 21st century quest for oil.
