About Me

FRT is the brainchild of producer / musician Simon Ellis, an Englishman who came to Düsseldorf, Germany back in 1991.
During that time he made friends with Christian Linder who was currently resident DJ at the Ratinger Hof, D-town. Together they became Zero Gravity, a techno trance outfit, and signed their first deal in June 92 with Fucking Loud records in Frankfurt. The tune "The Crave" became an underground hit with the Frankfurt techno community even though only 500 records were pressed. A year later ZG signed to Rheinbeat records from Düsseldorf and released "Sensorium" in the Autumn of 93. This track went on to become a classic trance tune which received much acclaim throughout Europe (it received the remix treatment 7 years on and became part of Pete Tongs Radio One playlist in the UK).
In 1993 Simon started a House project called Rise & Shine which eventually was signed to Alphabet City in 95 - this happened as a result of spending many long weekends in Amsterdam and enjoying the vibrant House scene of the time. The end result was a track entitled "Hungry Animal" which has recently been remixed by Jay Frog (ex Scooter). Other projects include Houdini, signed to Fax records for an E.P. & L.P. in 93, The Soundlords who were signed to Sounds Good records in 94 and The Inspiring Sound Sauce, signed to Go For It. Zero Gravity once again signed a new deal with Le Petit Prince in 94 and released further 12"singles and an album some years later.
Since Simon took a backseat from producing dance tunes for some years now, Future Research Technology has become a channel for new material that fits more than one genre of electronic music and is the accumulation of his experiences from the club scene.
