About Me

On January 16, 1959, Helen Folasade Adu, Was born in Ibadan, Nigeria and raised in Colchester, Essex moved at the age of 4 after her English mother and Nigerian father seperated. Sade spent most of her life trying to do what's right, honest, and true. Growing up she listened to inspirational artists such as the likes of Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway, and the late great Marvin Gaye. She never thought about singing herself rather she studied Fashion Design at St. Martins Art College. Singing as a vocalists when a couple of oldschool friends started a band "Until they found a proper singer." From there she was singing with early 80's Latin Funk Collective pride, It was then she discovered a rare delight for songwriting. It was while she was with the group, that Sade co-wrote "Smooth Operator" and it was from there that Sade abandoned differences and finally stepped onto the center stage to form her own group with pride members Stuart Matthewman, Andrew Hale, And Paul Spencer Denman.
